My students will be taking their high-stakes state test in one week. This entire school year has been a desperate attempt to best prepare them for this. No matter how much I have tried to explain the weightiness of our preparation and the implications of their success (or lack thereof), their little 8 and 9 year old selves have struggled to fully grasp the magnitude of our present situation.
There was one discouraging moment when I thought to myself, "I know you can't fully understand how important this is, but it is! Trust me, it is! In time you'll see. But for now, when you can't see it, when you can't understand it, trust me, and listen!" In that very moment, it was as if I could hear similar sentiments coming from the Lord: "I know you can't fully understand the importance of paying your tithing, obeying the word of wisdom, staying chaste, reading scriptures daily, etc., but it is! Trust me, it is! In time you'll see. But for now, when you can't see it, when you can't understand it, trust me, and listen!"
